‘Terror is terror, whether in France or Israel’

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke about the attempted coup in Turkey at the opening of the cabinet meeting this morning (Sunday), and expressed hope that it will not affect Israel’s relations with the Turks.

Israel and Turkey recently signed a rapprochement deal after years of strained relations. “We assume the reconciliation process will continue along the same lines uninfluenced by this weekend’s events,” Netanyahu said.

He also mentioned the terror attack in Nice in which 84 people, including 10 children, were murdered. “A few days ago we experienced the horrific attack in Nice. It once again underscores the need for a unified and aggressive approach against the murderous terror striking against the whole world. I have sent condolences in the name of the Israeli people and government to French President Francois Hollande.”

The Prime Minister also addressed the Palestinian condemnation of the Nice attack. “The Palestinian authority also sent their condolences and condemnations, but there is one difference. Not only do they refrain from condemning terror attacks here, they encourage and glorify the terrorists. They give them and their families pensions.

“Terror is terror, whether it’s in France or in Israel. We need a unified approach of condemnation and battle against this terrorism, here and everywhere else,” Netanyahu concluded.
