Kinneret Mandel’s Family Files for Court Order Against Murderers
October 17, 2011The mother of Kinneret Mandel, who was killed in a drive-by shooting attack at the Gush Etzion Junction on October 16, 2005, is demanding that Kinneret’s killers remain in the country. Mandel submitted a damages claim to a Petah Tikva court this Monday morning against the three terrorists who murdered her daughter and are scheduled to be released in the Gilad Shalit exchange deal.
The three perpetrators were given six life sentences.
“We will demand a court order against these three from leaving the country, according to the rules of law that must be fulfilled unless the court becomes political,” said the uncle of the murdered girl, Shlomo Rosenfeld to Arutz Sheva.
In the autumn of 2005, exactly six years ago, Kinneret, 23, and her cousin Matat Rosenfeld-Adler, 21, were returning home to the settlement of Carmel after spending time in Jerusalem. The girls reached the Gush Etzion Junction, where commuters await transportation home. A car from their settlement drove past and picked up hitchhikers at the junction, but there was no room for the two young women.
The drive-by shooting attack occurred a few minutes later, when a car slowed down and two bursts of automatic gunfire mowed down the hitchhikers, killing the two women and Oz Ben-Meir, 14, also on his way home to Maon in the southern Hebron hills. Two others were seriously wounded. Fatah’s al-Aqsa Maryrs Brigades claimed responsiblity for the attack.
Kinneret’s parents were among the founders of Carmel. Her father works as a farmer and her mother is a social worker in Be’er Sheva. Kinneret was the first child born in the Carmel community.
