July 12, 2016

Hundreds of people went to pray at Joseph’s tomb in Shechem in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday), including famous Jewish singer Yaakov Shwekey who had performed in the region, his agent Sharon Daniel, and Samaria Brigade Commander Colonel Gilad Amit.

This is the first time that Shwekey prayed at Joseph’s tomb, located inside the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Shechem, and joined the Brigade Commander and all the other visitors in a celebratory group dance.

The visit to the tomb was conducted under IDF security. Approximately 30 buses joined the trip, and stones were thrown at the convoy while it was on its way to the tomb. No one was hurt.

Early last month, nearly 4,000 Jews went to pray at Joseph’s tomb to mark the day in the Omer count which is associated with Joseph in the Kabbalah system.

Colonel Amit also participated in the prayers then, as well as Jewish Home MK Shuli Mualem-Rafaeli, Bnei Brak Mayor Hanoch Zeibert, and others.
