Motti Zisser, a prominent Israeli businessman, philanthropist, and member of the national-religious community, passed away overnight following a long battle with cancer.

Zisser is survived by his wife, Dr. Bracha Zisser, and the couple’s five children. A long-time resident of Bnei Brak, Zisser later relocated to the Bat Ganim neighborhood of Petah Tikva.

A member of the Jewish Home party, Zisser was in the past a member of the party’s central committee.

In 1994 Zisser was diagnosed with cancer. After making a full recovery, he became active in the fight against cancer, spending millions to help cancer patients. Along with his wife, Zisser also founded Israel’s bone marrow bank, donating tens of millions of dollars to the bank over the years.

Among his other philanthropic contributions, Zisser founded the “Oranit” recovery home for young patients recovering from cancer. Both Oranit and the bone marrow bank are operated under the auspices of the Ezer MiTzion organization.

Zisser also made substantial donations to various other charitable causes in Israel and around the world.
