IDF, Police Launch Operation against Rock Throwers

February 26, 2015

IDF, Border Police and Israel Police forces launched a large-scale operation Thursday to block and contain the wave of rock throwing terror in Judea and Samaria.

The operation was launched after a special headquarters was established to deal specifically with the rock-throwing threat.

The HQ has command over two Judea and Samaria Border Police companies, IDF forces and additional forces. Its activities include patrols, surprise roadblocks at the entrances to villages, and other activity including arrests based on intelligence.

In addition, the HQ cooperates with the Tax and Customs Authority, and the IDF Civil Administration.

The central aim of the operation is the creation of deterrence, and safeguarding of public order, explained a police source. Several arrests were made in the HQ’s first day of operation Thursday and some unspecified materials were seized – both criminal and terrorist in nature.

In the early morning hours, Border Police forces arrested four suspects over involvement in violent riots recently, and a large number of other people who were wanted for questioning for various reasons.

The Judea and Samaria Traffic Department issued dozens of tickets for driving violations and four cars were taken off the roads.

Adele Biton hy”d, the victim of a rock throwing attack that caused her severe neurological damage, passed away recently two years after the car she was in was ambushed.

Asher Palmer and his baby son Yehonatan, hy”d, were murdered in a rock attack three years ago.
