IAI Employees Pose for ‘Satellite Selfie’
January 27, 2015To mark Israeli Space Week, about 300 IAI employees posed in a way that spelled out “IAI” for what they called a “satellite selfie”: a photograph taken by the cameras mounted on the IAI’s EROS (Earth Resources Observation Satellite) B satellite.
“We looked up exactly on the specific minute in which the satellite passed over our heads at an altitude of 600 kilometers,” IAI media person Noga Nadler-Moses, the initiator of the “selfie” idea, told Army Radio.
“The IAI employees were excited to take part in the experience,” she said. “It let them feel that they were part of something bigger, connected to Space Week.”
Space Week is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the death of the first Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon, who died on February 1, 2003, on board the NASA space shuttle Columbia.
The main event of Space Week will be the inauguration of the Israel Space Academy, where the astronauts of the future will train.
