Head of Outreach Organization Targeted by Terrorists

November 27, 2014

Yisrael Zeira, head of the non-profit Rosh Yehudi outreach organization, was the target of an attempted terrorist attack on Thursday night.

Arabs opened fire at Zeira’s car as he was traveling near Kiryat Arba. At least two bullets hit the car but miraculously, no one was hurt.

Security forces began searching the area in an attempt to locate the shooters.

“A great miracle happened tonight,” Zeira wrote on his Facebook page after the attack. “Shots were fired towards us near the Kiryat Arba gas station. Thank G-d there were only two holes in the driver’s door.”

Earlier on Thursday, Arab terrorists opened fire on an Israeli car driving on Highway 465 near Hadoar Intersection, in the Binyamin region of Samaria north of Jerusalem. No one was wounded.

Also Thursday it was revealed that Israeli security services thwarted a major Hamas terrorist cell in Judea and Samaria back in September.

The cell, which was directed by Hamas’s leadership in Turkey, was planning attacks on several major targets including Jerusalem’s Teddy Stadium. It also was thought to be behind several roadside bombs placed at junctions in Samaria, in an area north of where the shooting occurred Thursday.

In the investigation, over 30 terrorists were arrested and a large weapons cache including two M-16 semi-automatic rifles, ammunition and bomb-making materials were seized.
