Dozens protest terror wave as Cabinet convenes
July 2, 2016Dozens of people gathered on Saturday night in Judea and Samaria to protest against the deterioration in the security situation, following a series of terrorist attacks over the last few days.
The protests were held under the title “A girl was slaughtered in her bed, a father was murdered in front of his children – we will not remain indifferent!”.
Dozens of residents blocked the entrance to Kiryat Arba in one protest. Dozens of additional protesters blocked the entrance to Shechem through the Beit Furik checkpoint in Samaria.
Additional protests took place at the Tapuah junction, among other areas.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the Security Cabinet, which was called following the recent wave of murderous terror attacks, ended shortly before midnight on Saturday night.
No statement was given as to what decisions, if any, were made at the meeting.
Before the meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman announced the approval of 42 new housing units in the town of Kiryat Arba near Hevron, where a terrorist murdered a 13-year-old girl in her bed on Thursday.
In addition, the decision was made to enact a total lockdown of the Arab settlements in the Hevron area, and to cancel all work permits issued to resident of the village of Bani Naim, where Hallel Yafa Ariel’s murderer lived – a total of 2,800 permits.
The government also decided to build a special cemetery for the bodies of terrorists slain while murdering or attempting to murder Israelis. The funds needed to build the cemetery will be deducted from the tax revenue which Israel collects for the Palestinian Authority.
On Friday, hours after Michael Marc was murdered by a terrorist in front of his children, Jewish Home chairman and Education Minister Naftali Bennett introduced an extensive plan to stop the wave of terrorism.
