COGAT imposes sanctions on Hevron governor

July 3, 2016

COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, the IDF unit responsible for implementing government policy in Judea and Samaria) head Major General Yoav (Poli) Mordechai has decided to sanction the governor of Hebron, Kamel Hamid, and to ban him from leaving Judea and Samaria.

These sanctions are the result of the governor’s visit to the families of the terrorists in the village of Bani Na’im.

Gen. Mordechai said to Channel 2 that he viewed the visit as supporting murder and encouraging terrorism.

Mordechai wrote on COGAT’s Arabic Facebook page, “Visiting the families is consent to murder and encourage terrorism. Does the governor of Hevron support the murderer of a 12-year-old girl? We expect the Palestinian leadership to take responsibility and to call for calm and tolerance. Israel will not help those who support terrorism.”
