A 35-year-old woman tragically died on Monday due to a fire that broke out in an apartment on Kibbutz Galuyot Street in the coastal city of Ashdod.
A Magen David Adom (MDA) team was dispatched to the scene after receiving a call to its emergency hotline.
MDA paramedics sought to give the wounded woman medical treatment, but were forced to pronounce her death.
Before the medics unsuccessfully tried to save the woman’s life, Ashdod firefighters who were called up to the site managed to gain control over the blaze, allowing the medical team to enter the apartment.
It remains unclear what caused the fire, and the fire department has launched an investigation to try and untangle the circumstances.
MDA paramedic Keren Levy who arrived on scene said, “this was a fire in an apartment on the first floor of a three storey building.”
“Immediately after the firefighting activities we went into the apartment, where we found a woman aged around 35 with no signs of life. Unfortunately we had no choice but to determine her death.”
