Wave of arrests in Kabatiyah after deadly attack

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu convened an emergency security meeting with the chiefs of the IDF, Shin Bet and police on Wednesday night following a deadly shooting and stabbing attack in Jerusalem.

Overnight Thursday, the IDF carried out a series of arrests in Kabatiyah – the hometown of the three Arab terrorists behind the attack.

The closure imposed on the town late Wednesday night also remains in place and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon had ordered the deployment of additional soldiers to Judea-Samaria.

In addition, the houses in Kabatiyah of the tree terrorists have been slated for demolition. They have been identified as Ahmad Nagah Ismail Nasser, Ahmed Najah Abed Alalatif Abu-Alarov and Mohammad Ahmad Mohammad Kamil.

The IDF is investigating how the three were able to travel from northern Samaria all the way to the capital so heavily armed. The security apparatus apparently had no early information or warning about such a terror cell planning an attack.

However, one of the terrorists reportedly did write about his intentions to conduct an attack and “kill Jews” on Facebook last month.

The funeral for Hadar Cohen, the 19-year-old Border Police officer killed in the attack, will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the military cemetery in Yehud.

A resident of Or Yehuda, Cohen was promoted to the rank of Corporal after her death. She had only enlisted in the Border Police two months ago and was undergoing training.

Ravit, the second female officer injured in the attack, remains hospitalized at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital in stable and moderate condition.
