Video of New York’s Celebrate Israel Parade
Hundreds of thousands of lovers of Israel lined New York City’s streets Sunday for the annual “Celebrate Israel” parade. This year’s theme was “Israel Branches Out.”
One sign proclaimed “Moses was a Zionist” as thousands of blue and white Israeli flags were hoisted by parade goers on the streets and sidewalks. For those who came without one, hawkers made them available for $3 a piece.
The annual event always draws large crowds and the usual procession of politicians, headed by city Mayor Michael Bloomberg and state Gov. Andrew Cuomo waved to constituents.
Sen. Charles Schumer shouted through a bullhorn, “Let’s hear it for Israel! And America!”
Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein represented the government.
