U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is being mocked in a new video, part of a campaign by nationalists warning against Kerry’s plans to impose an agreement with the Palestinian Authority (PA) on Israel.
The campaign is being co-sponsored by the Yisrael Sheli (My Israel) movement, along with the Yesha Council and the Binyamin Regional Council.
The video which was produced as part of the campaign mocks Kerry for his “creative” but useless solutions to Israel’s security problems. Kerry is presented as running a company called “John Kerry Solutions Ltd.”, the motto of which is, “We don’t have good solutions but hey, we have to do something!”
As part of the campaign, a Hebrew website was launched at www.johnkerry.co.il, which reminds users of some of the past failures of the United States in the Middle East. Another section of the website provides a list of past incidents when Israel was able to withstand American pressure.
The organizers of the campaign said that their goal is “to emphasize the message which is known to all – that our deep friendship with the United States does not require us to give in to pressure that leads us towards solutions that endanger the state of Israel.”
The campaign comes amid reports that Kerry plans to force Israel to accept his security plan for the strategically important Jordan Valley.
The security plan involves a slow transition from IDF patrols over the region to PA forces, with an international presence, according to reports. IDF drones would also be deployed over the area, as a means of gathering information about any terrorist activity that could potentially develop there.
The Israeli government has insisted that the region is of crucial importance to Israel’s future, and has been critical of plans to hand over the area to the PA. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has insisted that in the event that Israel withdrew from Judea and Samaria, as per Kerry’s plans, the Jordan Valley be kept under Israeli control.
