Over the Passover holiday, over 2 million Israelis visited national parks, nature reserves, and outdoor sites around Israel.

According to the Jewish National Fund, the top sites were the Hula Reserve in northern Galilee, the “interactive forest” in the Ilanot Forest, and the water reservoirs in the Besor region in southern Israel.

Also very popular was the Banias and the area of the Hermon. Police several times over the holiday closed beaches on the Kinneret, after they were filled to capacity by visitors.

Besides outdoor sites, hundreds of thousands of Israelis also visited museums around the country, many of which were open to the public free of charge.

Tens of thousands also visited sites in Judea and Samaria, where several festivals were held over the holiday, attracting many Israelis from the center of the country.

With many Israelis going away for the long weekend at the end of Passover, roads from the north to the center of the country were jam-packed Monday night.

Ten people were injured Monday night in a traffic accident outside Haifa. Two of the injured were taken to a nearby hospital in moderate condition. Police called on drivers to exercise patience on the ride home.
