Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are headed towards victory in the Florida primary, while Clinton and Governor John Kasich appear to be winning Ohio.

CNN said after 29 percent of the votes were counted that Trump was ahead with 45%, followed by Florida Senator Marco Rubio with 27, Ted Cruz with 15 and Kasich with 8.

In the same state, Clinton was winning with 66%, with rival Bernie Sanders receiving 31%.

Meanwhile in Ohio, Kasich was leading his home state with 45%, followed by Trump with 31.7%, and Cruz with 13.7%.

In the same state, initial results showed Clinton with 68.7% and Sanders with 30.3%.

There was also voting Tuesday in North Carolina, Missouri and Illinois.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rubio said he would continue campaigning even if he loses the Florida primary.

“Tomorrow our plan is to be in Utah campaigning, irrespective of tonight,” Rubio was quoted by The Hill as having said.

“It would be a lot better to go to Utah being the winner of the Florida primary. It would give us a tremendous amount of momentum. It would give us 99 delegates, and that’s the way we want to do it tonight,” he added.

Rubio was reportedly advised by his associates to drop out even before the Florida vote in order to avoid embarrassment in his home state, but he chose to continue the campaign.

Rubio won this past Saturday’s Washington DC Republican caucus, narrowly beating Kasich.
