Travel Warning to Thailand Canceled

Israel has called off its serious travel warning regarding after Thai authorities detained Lebanese suspect, uncovered arms cache.

Two weeks after Thai authorities detained a Lebanese man with suspected links to Hizbullah, Israel has called off its serious travel warning regarding the Southeast Asian country.

The arrest was made after the United States warned of a terrorist threat against tourists in Thailand. Following the arrest, and presumably due to the suspect’s interrogation, Thai forces discovered of 400 boxes of bomb-making material.

Israel’s Counter Terrorism Bureau (CTB) is now confident that the immediate threat to Israelis in Thailand has been removed, and it has therefore called off the travel warning.

However, the CTB says that there are additional terror infrastructures in the area, and notes that the anniversary of the death of top Hizbullah officer Imad Mughniyeh is a “sensitive” time. It therefore asks Israelis in Thailand to be alert.

Azerbaijani officials said this week they had uncovered an Iranian-linked Muslim gang that plotted to assassinate Chabad rabbis and others in Baku.

The planned murders were supposed to be revenge for the killing of Iranian nuclear scientists.
