Tragedy in Modi’in Ilit

A toddler about 18 months old, drowned in a water reservoir at the entrance to Modi’in Ilit today (Saturday).

Paramedics and rescue workers revived the child and evacuated him to Asaf Harofeh Hospital in critical condition. Doctors then did their best but were unable to save his life.

“In a quarry near a pond we saw a toddler, about a year and a half old. He was unconscious, not breathing and with no pulse after we pulled him from the water,” MDA paramedic Ofir Shayesh said.

“He also suffered from hypothermia. We gave him medical treatment, including extended resuscitation efforts and treatment for hypothermia. They continued the resuscitation at the hospital until doctors were forced to declare him dead.”
