Three Israeli Universities Ranked Among Top 200

The QS World Universities 2013/14 rankings, published today, saw M.I.T in the U.S. maintain its position as the top-ranked university worldwide. Meanwhile three Israeli universities made the top 200.

Hebrew University in Jerusalem topped the Israeli trio ranked in 141st place with the Technion coming in at 183rd place and Tel Aviv University ranked at 196. Ben Gurion University ranked at 331.

At the top of the table, the U.S. took six of the top ten spots with the other four going to universities in the UK.

The rankings which also scored faculties individually placed Haifa’s Technion in 123rd place, unlike last week when financial news service Bloomberg ranked the Technion in the top ten undergraduate institution in the world for technology. Bloomberg’s findings were based on analysis of the undergraduate schools of 250 CEOs of U.S.tech companies with a market value of over $1bn, and placed the Technion in joint seventh place alongside MIT, Rice University and the University of Texas, Austin.

In the Bloomberg table the Haifa based university is also the only institution listed in the top ten from outside the U.S.
