Terrorists in Gaza fired two rockets at southern Israel on Thursday night. The rockets hit the Eshkol region.
No casualties have been reported, and the rockets appear not to have caused damage to property.
Residents said the rocket strikes were not preceded by a “Color Red” alert. The Color Red alert normally sounds before attacks to give residents a few seconds in which to try to take shelter.
Earlier this week an IDF spokesperson said, “The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli citizens and soldiers, and the IDF does not intend to allow a repeat of the situation prior to Operation Pillar of Defense.”
Over the past month there have been several isolated rocket attacks. In this week’s Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned, “The ‘drip’ of rockets will be met with a very harsh response. We will do everything necessary to protect our citizens.”
On Tuesday morning the IDF killed a senior terrorist in Gaza. Shin Bet sources said the terrorist, Haithan Ziyad Ibrahim al-Mishal, was killed as a preventative measure due to his ongoing involvement in terrorism.
