Gideon Levy, a journalist at the leftist Haaretz paper infamous for delegitimizing the IDF’s defensive actions, has been awarded the Olof Palme Prize of 2015 worth $75,000.

Levy, who constantly opposes the right of Jews to live in Judea and Samaria, received the prize together with Palestinian Lutheran pastor Mitri Raheb, one of the co-authors of the infamous 2009 Kairos Palestine document, which calls for Christians worldwide to help fight the Israeli “occupation.”

The Swedish prize committee said that both recipients offer “a glimmer of hope to a conflict that too long has plagued and continues to plague millions of people and affects world peace.”

The award comes after Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström accused the Jewish state of “executing without trial” Palestinian Arabs who carried out stabbing, shooting and car-ramming attacks against Israeli civilians, which resulted in them being shot to death by soldiers trying to prevent further victims.

Wallstrom’s comments, which are her latest in a series of anti-Israel statements made in recent months, are supported by the “courageous and indefatigable” Gideon Levy, who came out in defense of the minister.

“The fact that Israel is attacking Sweden so often is the most unbelievable chutzpah,” Levy told Swedish radio. “How dare Israel, how dare an occupier, criticize Sweden for recognizing Palestine?”

The Olof Palme Prize co-winner added that Wallstrom had nothing to apologize for, saying, “what we see in the last months is Palestinians trying to stab Israelis and are executed without a trial.”

Levy does not advocate for Palestinian terrorists to stop stabbing, yet the Swedish committee applauded his “fight against occupation and violence for a future Middle East characterized by peaceful coexistence and equality.”
