Suspect Arrested in Petah Tikva Grenade Attack
February 28, 2014Police arrested on Thursday evening a 27-year-old leader of a criminal organization on suspicion of involvement in a grenade attack in the Petah Tikva open air market earlier this week.
The suspect was being questioned by the Central District of the Israel police and will be brought before a court for a remand hearing on Friday morning.
The explosion on Tuesday wounded five people, who were all transported to the Belinson Hospital and were listed in light to moderate condition.
This has been a hard month for Petah Tivka, which saw two killed in a car bombing earlier this month. Police connected that incident with organized crime as well.
Last week an explosive device was placed under the car of the city’s Deputy Mayor, Uriel Boso. It exploded when the car was empty, and no one was hurt. Police are investigating that incident as well.
