Stabbing Attack Prevented in Jerusalem

A 16-year-old female Arab terrorist tried on Friday afternoon to stab a border policeman at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem.

Border Police officers who were at the scene prevented the girl from carrying out the attack. As they wrestled the knife away from her, one of them was lightly wounded in the leg. He did not require treatment.

The 16-year-old, a resident of Jabel Mukaber in eastern Jerusalem, was taken in for questioning.

In late December, officer Rami Ravid was wounded in a stabbing attack at the Adam checkpoint. He lost a kidney as a result of the stabbing.

Arab terrorists have carried out numerous attacks against Israelis in recent weeks. Ravid’s stabbing took place one day after a terror attack in Bat Yam, where a bomb exploded on a bus.

No passengers were reported injured in that attack, but one police officer with the bomb squad was wounded as he attempted to disarm the device.

On Thursday it was revealed that the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), the IDF and the Israel Police had arrested 14 terrorists, some from the Islamic Jihad organization and one PA security officer, on suspicion of involvement in the Bat Yam bus bombing.
