An IDF soldier was found dead late Sunday evening. He was found in an armored truck outside Gaza, where he had been waiting for troops in the area.
It is believed that the soldier died after inhaling poison gas.
Suspicions were first raised when the troops planning to meet the soldier attempted to contact him by radio and got no response. They made their way to the truck, but were unable to get inside for some time, as the vehicle’s heavy shielding made breaking in difficult.
IDF sources said that if the soldier had fallen asleep with the engine running, he may have inhaled poison gas in his sleep, causing his death. However, an official cause of death has not yet been determined.
The soldier’s family has been informed of his passing, but his name has not yet been released. Sources said the soldier, 20, was to be released from service in two weeks.
