Shin Bet Raids 2 Hamas Offices in Jerusalem

November 7, 2013

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) raided and shut down two offices in Jerusalem that served terror movement Hamas.

The offices of “Al-Quds Development” and “Amara al-Aqsa,” which are part of the Islamic Movement, were closed down after the Shin Bet received information that the offices carried out activity that supports and assists Hamas’s operations in Jerusalem.

A week ago, the Jerusalem District Court sentenced four Hamas members who operated in Jerusalem to prison sentences, for the crime of belonging to a terror organization. One of the four – Hitam Taha – was sentenced to 3.5 years in jail and another six months’ suspended sentence for work of a organizational-social nature in the service of Hamas.

The sentences were handed down two years after security forces exposed Hamas headquarters in Jerualem that took care of religious, educational and welfare matters, in order to bring the Muslims of Jerusalem closer to Hamas’s ideology.

The other three defendants were convicted of membership in a terror organization and were given sentences of 6 to 18 months in jail.
