Shelly Dadon Murder ‘Almost Solved’

June 22, 2014

The murder of 19-year-old Shelly Dadon Hy”d of Afula is close to being solved, according to a report on Channel 2‘s Mako website.

“Elements directing the investigation” in the Israel Police’s northern district told the website that they believe the investigation is close to fruition.

Dadon’s body was found in the industrial area at Migdal Haemek, in the Galilee, on May 1, after she went there on what she believed was a job interview.

There have been previous reports of a breakthrough in the investigation, but these were not followed by announcements that the case was solved, so the latest report should be taken with a grain of salt. Details of any developments in the investigation are still under a media gag order.

A report about a breakthrough was carried by another large news site a week ago. Walla! reported that it received information that there have been “certain developments” in the investigation, adding that the revelations may possibly lead police to solving the case soon.

Almost two months have passed since the murder, with police reportedly as in the dark as ever regarding even the motive of the murder, until these latest developments.

Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich announced “dramatic developments” in the investigation on Memorial Day, just days after the murder, when he met with Dadon’s family.

Aharonovich reversed his statement that the murder was soon to be explained mere days later, when he said her murder might not be nationalistically motivated.
