Same Jewish Home List After Vote Recount

The Jewish Home list for the 2015 elections will remain the same, the party announced Tuesday, despite a last-minute overnight recount of the primaries votes.

Two candidates, Professor Asher Cohen and Shimon Riklin, swapped places far down the list – some thirty spots down – but the change is so minor that it does not affect the list in practice. Recent polls suggest Jewish Home will gain 16-18 seats in the 20th Knesset, making even a #25 spot unrealistic.

The last-minute recount was suggested late Monday night after party members suggested that the scanning process for votes, which were counted digitally, could be faulty.

This is not the first controversy over party primaries during this round of elections.

On Monday, Likud confirmed that MK Tzipi Hotovely replaced former Israel Security Agency (ISA) chief Avi Dichter for the 20th spot on the list – a realistic spot for Likud – bumping Dichter down to the less-likely #26 spot. Dichter is expected to appeal.
