Rishon Letzion stabbing victim makes quick recovery

November 5, 2015

A 35-year-old man seriously injured in Monday’s stabbing attack in Rishon Letzion has seen a dramatic improvement in his condition, official at Assaf HaRofeh hospital have announced.

His condition is now classified as “light.”

Meanwhile, an elderly woman also wounded that attack is still in moderate condition. The 80-year-old woman was slashed in her back by the terrorist as he ran down the street, stabbing pedestrians as other bystanders chased him in an effort to end his bloody rampage. The attacker was eventually cornered in a grocery store and captured by civilians, who handed him over to police.

Footage of the attack was caught on CCTV cameras, and sparked debate after several people passed by the 80-year-old victim in order to catch the terrorist, before others eventually stopped to tend to her injuries.

Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital meanwhile has said that the border police officer run over by a terrorist along route 60 near Hevron yesterday (Wednesday) is still in critical condition. Hospital officials say the 20-year-old officer is still fighting for his life in intensive care.

The victim suffered severe injuries to his head and to several other limbs.

According to Palestinian media the terrorist responsible for that attack – who was shot dead at the scene by other officers – was 23-year-old Hevron resident Ibrahim Samir Skafi.

Skafi’s family received his body from Israeli authorities soon after the attack, burying him last night in Hevron.

News of the terrorist’s burial angered many in Israel, where a recent Security Cabinet decision to withhold terrorists’ bodies as a deterrent has been ignored by Israel’s defense establishment.
