‘Rethink prisoner swap policy’, urges terror victims’ group
August 1, 2016The Almagor terror victims’ association on Monday sent a letter to the government urging it to reconsider the policy of releasing terrorists from Israeli prisons.
“I call on the ministers to go to the cemetery here in Jerusalem and visit the grave of Colonel Baruch Mizrahi, who was murdered by a terrorist who was released in that exchange deal for [Gilad] Shalit and ask for forgiveness,” said Almagor head Meir Indor in an interview with Arutz Sheva.
“The three boys who were kidnapped and murdered in Gush Etzion – the commander of that project was a terrorist who had been released in the Shalit deal. The same story with Malachi Rosenfeld and Danny Gonen,” continued Indor.
“What will happen in the future? They will, God forbid, kidnap a soldier again, and then we’ll have to release the same terrorists?” he said.
He urged the Cabinet to deport released terrorists to Gaza, or at least force them to report to the police station once a week
In addition, said Indor, checkpoints that were closed must be reopened, and police officers from the Palestinian Authority should not be allowed to freely roam the region as many of them are involved in terrorist attacks.
“I think it’s time that the government decide on punishment to rioters who throw rocks and firebombs at soldiers conducting an arrest operation. This is a war. Sometimes in war you need to take steps so that the population will know that it doesn’t pay to harm Israelis,” he added.
