Poll: Labor Still Strong as Jewish Home Weakens

Labor is maintaining a strong lead over Likud in elections polls Tuesday, after a Panels Politics poll for the Knesset Channel held on Monday night gave leaders Yitzhak Herzog and Tzipi Livni a two-seat lead.

Labor wins the top spot, according to this poll, with 25 seats, vs. Likud at just 23.

Jewish Home has weakened slightly at 15 seats, despite previous polls indicating the party could gain as many as 18 mandates in the 20th Knesset; however, the survey was held before Chairman Naftali Bennett announced Monday night that he had drafted soccer star Eli Ohana to the party’s 15th spot.

Close behind is the joint Arab list, which would gain 12 seats.

Yesh Atid marks the fifth-largest party in the Knesset, with a projected 11 seats in the 2015 elections, followed by Kulanu at eight seats.

United Torah Judaism and Shas tie at seven seats each, and Yisrael Beytenu and Meretz bottom out the list, at just six seats each.

Eli Yishai’s Ha’am Itanu party, meanwhile, is not expected to pass the Knesset threshold.

This is the second poll in two days to show a strong lead for Labor and a slight fall for Jewish Home. A Midgam poll for Channel 2 published Monday night produced similar results, with Labor leading at 26 seats.
