Police Escorts for Jewish Tourists in Europe
August 12, 2012
Three weeks after the murderous terror attack against Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria, Israeli tourists in Europe are receiving police protection.
There have been reports from different sources that Bulgaria has been assigning both uniformed and undercover police to protect groups of Israeli tourists who travel in the country. In some cases, hotels that house Israelis receive a police guard.
The extra protection is noticeable outside Bulgaria, too. A group of hareidim from the U.S. who are touring Europe said that in Greece, the authorities responded positively to requests from tourist companies, and provided the group with police escorts.
Five Israelis were murdered in the Burgas attack. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Israel has “rock solid” evidence linking the attackers to Iran.
