Pilot threatens to kill self, passengers if wife leaves

Police rushed to Fiumicino airport in Rome to stop a bitter pilot who threatened to kill himself and the roughly 200 passengers on a flight he was scheduled to make.

The pilot was arrested just minutes before take-off, after police were notified of threats the Italian pilot had made to his wife.

According to a report by The Times, the pilot threatened to intentionally crash the plane if she divorced him, killing himself and all aboard.

The incident took place on a flight bound for Tokyo in January 2015, but was only revealed to the public on Monday.

Two months after the incident, a German pilot intentionally crashed a plane, killing all 150 on board.
