Peres Flies to Vietnam, First Israeli Visit in 18 Years
November 21, 2011President Shimon Peres is set to fly Monday night to Vietnam for the official visit by a senior Israeli official since diplomatic relations were established in 1993.
Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang invited his Israeli counterpart, who is leading a 60-member security and industrial delegation. The group includes representatives of leading Israeli infrastructures, communications, finance, high-tech, water technology and agriculture firms.
Jewish Home party leader Rabbi/Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, who is Minister of Science and Technology, is one of those in the delegation for the six-day tour of Vietnam.
Others include Minister Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Orit Noked and Manufacturers Association President Shraga Brosh.
They will meet with President Tan San, Prime Minister as well as with the prime minister and defense minister.
Among the bilateral agreements due to be signed are a financial protocol, a shipping agreement and an agreement between the two countries’ chambers of commerce.
