NYPD arrests 4 boys in connection with Crown Heights bus arson

New York police have arrested four more boys in connection with allegedly setting fire to a Jewish school bus in Brooklyn, The Associated Press reported Friday.

The New York Police Department said two of the boys are 14 years old, one is 12 and the fourth is 11.

They were arrested Thursday and charged as juveniles with arson and criminal mischief as a hate crime, according to AP.

An 11-year-old boy has already been charged in connection with the Sunday evening blaze.

The bus belonged to the Bnos Chomesh Academy, a girls’ high school in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights, and police say surveillance video showed a group of boys running off the bus as it catches on fire.

Earlier this week, New York police said they were searching for the four boys who allegedly helped the 11-year-old boy set the school bus on fire.

No one was injured in the fire, but several prayer books and other items were destroyed.

The New York Daily News reported this week that the five boys caught on the surveillance video had put cardboard boxes inside the unlocked bus and set them on fire.

The investigation is continuing.
