Netanyahu urges Likud MK to remain in Knesset

May 23, 2016

Likud MK Mickey Zohar met Monday afternoon with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu amid rumors the first-term parliamentarian was breaking from the party.

During the meeting, Zohar reportedly informed Netanyahu that he intended to leave the Knesset, citing “personal reasons”.

Zohar’s planned departure comes just days after former Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon’s quit the Knesset.

On Monday, Deputy Regional Cooperation Minister Ayoub Kara (Likud) announced that he was considering leaving the party, claiming that he was suffering discrimination as a member of Israel’s Druze minority.

The Prime Minister urged Zohar to reconsider the move, calling upon him to remain in the Knesset. Zohar will finalize his decision within the coming days.
