Netanyahu: Tzipi Livni is a Danger to the State

February 19, 2015

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu fought back against media criticism Wednesday over the State Comptroller’s expense report regarding his official residence, and accused the media of mobilizing to topple the right-wing government.

“The media carnival surrounding the State Comptroller’s report is a smokescreen designed to enable Tzipi Livni to stealthily infiltrate the Prime Minister’s Office,” Netanyahu charged at a conference of Likud supporters in Ashkelon. He used the military term ‘hitganvut yehidim,’ which refers to quiet infiltration of an enemy position by ground soldiers.

Netanyahu was flanked by the Mayor of Ashkelon, Itamar Shimoni, and Minister Yisrael Katz.

Livni is running together with Labor party head Yitzh”Buji” ak Herzog, with whom she has a rotation agreement, under the moniker the “Zionist Camp.” If they are able to form a coalition, Herzog will serve two years as prime minister, followed by Livni for two years. And yet, Labor’s campaign has thus far centered on Herzog and left the unpopular Livni out of the spotlight.

According to Netanyahu, Labor is trying to “hide” Tzipi Livni from the public – and for good reason: “Tzipi Livni is a danger to the state,” he said about the woman whom he selected as Justice Minister and chief “peace negotiator” in his previous government.

The Prime Minister then attacked a Facebook post Livni published in which she stated that she had opposed negotiations with Hamas during Operation Protective Edge.

“She went to Abu Mazen [PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas], against my wishes, and against my express instructions and an express government order, to meet with him a few days before he signed the unity agreement with Hamas,” Netanyahu stated.

“Buji Herzog, her partner, also said that he would run to Abbas, who is in a unity government with Hamas,” Netanyahu pressed on.

“Both of them welcomed the Disengagement [from Gaza]. It was said then that this would be a ‘historic move’ and ‘a responsible element will take over the territory.'”

“When Buji and Tzipi run to Abu Mazen after the elections and begin negotiations with him in Ramallah, they will offer so many concessions that a second Hamastan will be established in Judea and Samaria,” the Prime Minister accused.

Finally, Netanyahu declared, “This is the real decision this election: Tzipi Livni in control of a left-wing government or Likud under my leadership. Everyone knows who will stand against Hamas and who will fold before Hamas.”
