Netanyahu May Place Journalist Segal in List

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is considering placing nationalist journalist Erel Segal, 45, on Likud’s Knesset list.

Netanyahu is allowed to place candidates of his choosing in the 11th and 23rd spots in the Likud Knesset list.

Segal hosts a television news talk show, Erev Hadash, on Channel 1, and a radio show on Israel Radio.

Netanyahu and Segal are in touch with each other and it is not yet clear which spot Netanyahu wants to place Segal in. Likud is expected to garner at least 23 seats in the next Knesset, judging by current polls.

Segal is a prolific columnist, and is a musician as well, playing bass in a band with four other journalists called Naj Hamadi.

An eighth generation Israeli, he lives in Modi’in, is married and a father of four.

Netanyahu reportedly intends to meet Segal Friday morning.
