Netanyahu: India’s Prime Minister Must Visit Israel

April 29, 2015

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with the Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra in India, Davendra Fadnavis, on Wednesday. Maharashtra is the second-largest state in India.

“It’s a pleasure to see you here in Israel,” Netanyahu said. “Since my meeting with Prime Minister Modi in New York, we’ve had tremendous tightening and development of our relations.”

“Your visit is part of that. We’ve had visits of our ministers in India,” he added. “It’s time that Prime Minister Modi came to Israel. This is an invitation.”

“We have many, many areas of cooperation for good things, and also hard times,” he continued.  “And we want to express our condolences for the loss of lives in the recent earthquake and also to express appreciation for this cooperation in these dire times and for the best of times.”

Israel’s ties with India have been blossoming, particularly in the field of defense, and particularly since Narendra Modi took over as prime minister last year.
