Nationalists React to Capture of Palmer Murderers

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised on Thursday the Israel Security Agency (ISA), IDF and the police for capturing the terrorists who murdered Asher Palmer and his infant son Yonatan.

“While one of our hands is outstretched in peace, our other hand will continue to protect the security of Israeli citizens,” Netanyahu said.

The capture of the terrorists, as well as three other Arabs who admitted to stealing Asher Palmer’s personal handgun after the murder, invoked many reactions from nationalists.

Kiryat Arba-Hevron Mayor Malachi Levinger said: “We praise the security forces for capturing this terror cell. This determined action indicates that the security system learned its lesson after at first failing to understand the meaning of the incident. We believe and hope that following this IDF operation, quiet and security will return to the area and its main traffic arteries.”

Levinger added, “This is important news that will enable tens of thousands of Jews from all over the country and abroad to visit the graves in the Cave of the Patriarchs without fear during the coming holidays.”

Likud MK Danny Danon called on Defense Minister Ehud Barak to be better prepared for terrorism.

“The new Arab terror on the roads of Judea and Samaria requires the State of Israel to be prepared. I call on the Minister of Defense to immediately bring back the blockades that were removed and stop endangering the lives of Jewish residents in Judea and Samaria.”

Danon added, “The terrorists should be tried for murder and receive the maximum punishment under law.”

MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) publicly called for the dismissal of the police and IDF spokesmen in Judea and Samaria, for their failure to identify the incident as a terror attack.

“It has once again been proven that there are military and police spokesmen who hide the truth from Israel and from the world,” Ben-Ari said, adding the spokesmen deliberately misled the public and presented a false representation about the murder and should thus be dismissed.

Nationalist activist Baruch Marzel also responded to the capture of the terrorists and called to give them the death penalty.

“Only in Israel, a terrorist who kills babies sleeps in a five-star, all inclusive prison and is later released as part of a prisoner swap deal,” he said.
