Nasrallah: Israel Has ‘No Strategy’ to Defeat Hezbollah

Israel has no strategy against Hezbollah, the group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah said on Friday, according to the Hebrew-language Walla! news website.

In a televised speech on the anniversary of the end of the Second Lebanon War in 2006, Nasrallah declared that Israel is now “well aware of Hezbollah’s deterrence capability.”

“Israel admits it has no strategy that can defeat Hezbollah. Not from the air and not from the ground,” he boasted, adding that if Israel attacks Lebanon again, every piece of land in Lebanon will be fortified.

“We will destroy your tanks, kill your soldiers and defeat your army,” threatened Nasrallah.

Nasrallah urged the Lebanese people to unite in order to deal even better with the “threat from Israel.”

In a speech that was broadcast on a large screen at a rally held at one of the scenes of the battles in the war, Nasrallah said that when the ceasefire was declared nine years ago today, it was a huge victory for Hezbollah and the Lebanese people.

“We have to declare August 14 as a divine victory for Hezbollah,” said Nasrallah, according to Walla!. He added that Israel failed to achieve its objectives in Lebanon, and claimed that Hezbollah foiled Israel’s plans to occupy southern Lebanon and reach the Litani River in the final days of the war.

“Lebanon’s soil became hell for the tanks and Israeli soldiers, the enemy was not able to defeat the resistance, not from the air and from the ground,” he said.

Nasrallah has continuously threatened Israel, despite the fact that he has admitted in the past that his terrorist group is incapable of defeating Israel on its own.

In a recent interview with Syrian state TV Nasrallah explained that despite boasts by himself and other Hezbollah leaders about the group’s capabilities, it is incapable of mounting a war against Israel independently.

In June, the Hezbollah leader threatened that his group would displace “millions” in Israel if the Jewish state attacks Lebanon.

His threat came in a televised address weeks after an Israeli army official warned that Israel would “have to” target civilian areas in Lebanon in a future confrontation with Hezbollah.

And last month, Nasrallah directly linked his group’s military campaign to the “Palestinian cause”, and claimed that all opponents of Iran oppose “Palestine” as well.

“The road to Jerusalem passes through Qalamoun, Daraa, Hasakeh and other [Syrian battlefields],” he declared, and added that the Islamic Republic was the only state that posed an existential threat to Israel.

“After God, Iran is the only remaining hope to free Palestine,” Nasrallah declared, adding, “If you are an enemy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, then you are an enemy of Palestine.”
