New Beginnings: This week Israel begins to read the fourth book of Torah, Bamidbar, the book of Numbers which tells the story of the generation of the desert…the generation that received the Torah at Mount Sinai.
This week we also began the new month of Sivan, and in just a few days we will be observing the Festival of Shavuot.
Shavuot is the culmination of our seven week counting of the Omer…the anniversary of the Sinai Revelation, the giving of the Torah, marked by the bringing of first fruits to the Holy Temple.
