MK Hazan Threatens Channel 2 with Legal Action

MK Oren Hazan (Likud) on Monday night announced he would be taking legal action against Channel 2 News and its political correspondent Amit Segal, following a report aired by the channel regarding Hazan’s alleged exploits in Bulgaria.

The report claimed that Hazan, who spent several years in the European nation managing a casino hotel in Burgas before returning to Israel and joining Likud, also did business with a local escort agency called “Red Rose” providing female escorts, out of pocket, to Israeli gamblers visiting the casino.

Israeli tourists interviewed in the news report also claimed the MK used hard drugs with them, in particular crystal meth.

Hours after the report aired, Hazan said that he will not stand such baseless and despicable lies, as he put it.

“I have instructed my lawyer to send a warning letter before a lawsuit against Channel 2 and Amit Segal. Let them appear in court before a judge and prove all the nonsense and lies they presented to viewers tonight,” he said.

MK Hazan claimed unequivocally that “there were no drugs. There were no female escorts. I do not expect anything from the media. They will likely not accept the victory of the Likud and Netanyahu in the elections, but it is incredible how low they are willing to stoop – journalists, editors and producers.”

“I came to the Knesset to do important things for the people of Israel and the Land of Israel. I will not let anyone distract me,” Hazan wrote on his Facebook page, adding, “Those who know me know that when I make a promise I keep it.”
