MK Ben-Eliezer’s Daughter Released from Custody

Talia Ben-Eliezer, daughter of MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer (Labor), was released over the weekend after being arrested at an airport in New York late last week for purchasing painkillers without the required documentation.

39-year-old Ben-Eliezer was passing through security at the airport when she was told by the officers that an arrest warrant was issued against her last July for illegal possession of the painkiller Oxycontin.

Ben-Eliezer, an American citizen, was defined in the arrest as a “fugitive.” When she arrived with her mother Dolly Ben-Eliezer at JFK airport to board a Delta Airlines flight to Tel Aviv, the authorities discovered the arrest warrant and took her into custody.

Other sources said that the suspicion is that Talia Ben-Eliezer, who is suffering from severe pain, “copied” a prescription she had received in order to purchase additional medication. She is expected to stand trial soon.
