Middle East to Dominate Final Romney-Obama Debate

Topics for the third and final presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney were announced by the moderator and debate commission on Saturday.

Bob Schieffer, CBS News anchor and mediator of the debate on issues of foreign policy, has selected five topics, which, according to the Commission on Presidential Debates, are “subject to possible changes because of news developments” and may be raised in any order.

Topics will include “Red Lines – Israel and Iran,” “America’s role in the world,” Our longest war – Afghanistan and Pakistan,” as well as “The Rise of China and Tomorrow’s World.”

Two of the segments will focus on the “The Changing Middle East and the New Face of Terrorism.”

This debate will be held October 22 in Boca Raton, Florida.

Candidates will have two minutes each to answer an initial question on each topic, and the moderator will facilitate a discussion for the remaining six minutes of each segment.

Prior to the much anticipated foreign policy debate, the candidates will face off on Tuesday in Hempstead, New York, at a town hall-style, which will include both domestic and foreign topics and will be moderated by CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley.
