Marzel to Bennett: Prove Yourself Before Preaching to Others

The recently reinstated Yachad-Ha’am Itanu candidate Baruch Marzel attacked Naftali Bennett Thursday morning for comments the Jewish Home Chairman made against Eli Yishai.

Writing Wednesday night on Facebook, Bennett stressed that all other party chairmen, including Yishai, “support or [have] supported in the past the transfer of parts of the Land of Israel to the Arabs.”

He listed “Oslo, disengagement, Hebron Agreement, Camp David, or today” as examples.

Bennett then wrote that “only Jewish Home says loud and clear: We will never permit the transfer of an inch of the land of Israel to the Arabs.”

Marzel responded by sarcastically listing all the times Bennett “strayed” from the values he was “preaching to others.”

“Good morning, Naftali Bennett, you remembered to wake up so you could throw a grenade inside an armored personal vehicle and hurt the chances of forming a right-wing coalition,” Marzel opened.

“I just wanted to remind you that during your tenure [in the Knesset] dozens of Jewish homes were destroyed. The Palestinian Authority expanded its hold on Jerusalem. You sat in a government that released hundreds of terrorists and worst of all you are promoting an autonomy plan that essentially means abandoning areas of our holy land – in other words, a Palestinian state, as Ayelet Shaked admitted on Eyal Kitzis’ television program.”

“By the way, Eli Yishai was fighting by our side during [the disengagement from] Gush Katif. You, Naftali, for some reason, I did not see. You were not there. So before you go preaching to others, prove yourself first.

Marzel, an Oztma Yehudit party member, is running on a technical bloc joint list with Yishai – the founder and Chairman of Yachad – in elections for the 20th Knesset.

Like the Jewish Home, Yishai’s party also opposes the surrender of any Israeli territory. Bennett’s comments appear to refer to Yishai’s time at the helm of Shas, which has in the past supported territorial concessions to the Palestinian Authority, particularly under Yishai’s predecessor and successor Aryeh Deri.
