Knesset Speaker married in the Old City

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud) married his partner Irina Nevzlin in a small ceremony Tuesday night.

The chuppah took place on the roof of Aish Hatorah Yeshiva, in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, while the reception was conducted in the Kotel tunnels. About 180 guests attended.

Rabbi Gideon Perl, the chief rabbi of Alon Shvut, and Rabbi Binyamin Levin conducted last night’s ceremony. Edelstein lived in Alon Shvut for many years.

The couple will hold a larger celebration at Ronit Farm, near Natanya. Hundreds of guests will attend, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Almost all Knesset members are invited to next week’s event, though not to the private chuppah. Only the couple’s personal friends, including Natan Sharansky and business leaders Ofra Strauss and Mikhail Hodorkovsky, were present last night.
