US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Israel next week for the first time in over a year, Channel 2 reported Wednesday night. 

Kerry will arrive on Monday and meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu the following day; the two are expected to discuss the volatile situation between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs. 

A wave of Arab terror has swept Israel in the past two months, with 14 Israelis murdered and over 160 more wounded. 

Netanyahu and Kerry are also likely to discuss the Israeli government’s decision Tuesday to outlaw the Islamic Movement in Israel, as well as general steps to fight radical Islam outside of Israel’s borders. 

Kerry’s special envoy for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, Frank Loewenstein, will also take part in the visit in a likely bid to set the groundwork to restart negotiations between the conflicting parties. 

Peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) have been frozen since US-brokered talks fell apart in April of 2014, when the PA torpedoed talks by signing a unity deal with Hamas.
