Kahlon: Unity government good for economic stability

Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon (Kulanu) welcomed the notion of a Likud-Zionist Union coalition government Monday, stating that “there is no better time for a broad-based government.”

“Leaders need to make courageous decisions even when it’s hard,” Kahlon stated, during a Real Estate Forum event held at Netanya Academic College. “I expect leaders to make decisions […] and say, ‘I made a decision that I believe is good for the people of Israel.”

“A unity government means stability; stability is crucial to banking reforms, reducing the cost of living, and the success of housing reform.”

Polls earlier Monday showed that a vast majority of Israelis are opposed to a unity government, with Zionist Union voters in particular outraged over the proposal.

If elections were held in May 2016, Kahlon’s Kulanu party would lose anywhere between one and three seats, the polls indicated – along with large losses for Likud and Zionist Union.
