Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon (Kulanu) has penned an official apology letter to the White House Wednesday, after fellow party member, former ambassador MK Michael Oren accused US President Barack Obama of “deliberately” tanking US-Israel relations. 

In the letter, Kahlon stated that Oren’s views are his alone, according to Channel 2, and that the accusations levied in the Wall Street Journal article do not represent the views of the party. 

“From the moment he entered office, Mr. Obama promoted an agenda of championing the Palestinian cause and achieving a nuclear accord with Iran,” Oren accused. “Mr. Obama posed an even more fundamental challenge by abandoning the two core principles of Israel’s alliance with America.”

Those principles included not discussing disagreements with Israel publicly and keeping former President George W. Bush’s commitment to keep major settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria in any major peace deal, he said. 

Oren penned his article just days before his highly anticipated tell-all book on his time as ambassador to the US, Ally: My Journey Across the American-Israeli Divide, hits newsstands. 

The book reveals, among other things, new details about Israel’s covert assistance to the US during the 2013 Syrian chemical weapons fiasco – and how Obama took sole credit for it – and several bizarre instances wherein Obama administration officials picked on Israel.
