US Secretary of State John Kerry has been hospitalized in stable condition after being injured in a cycling accident near Scionzier in France, according to the US State Department.
According to AP, Kerry was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Geneva, Switzerland immediately after the accident, which took place in Haute-Savoie.
He reportedly suffered an injury to his leg.
“Secretary Kerry is stable and likely suffered a leg injury. He did not lose consciousness,” spokesman John Kirby said.
“Paramedics and a physician were on the scene with the secretary’s motorcade at the time of the accident,” he added.
Kerry had just completed another round of talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on Saturday, as the sides attempt to meet a June 30 deadline on a final deal over Tehran’s nuclear program.
