Jewish Man Stabbed in Old City of Jerusalem
November 24, 2014A 45 year-old man is in moderate to severe condition Monday night, after being stabbed in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Paramedics and Magen David Adom paramedics have provided medical care to the man in the Old City police station, where he reported the event shortly after it unfolded.
Another Jew, estimated to be in his 30s, sustained minor injuries in the neck and hand.
Both have now been transferred to Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center for treatment.
An initial investigation shows that a group of Arabs attacked three yeshiva students, all from the “Shuvu Banim” yeshiva.
Police arrested three Arab suspects a short time afterwards.
Israel Police has now said (update: 9:00 pm) that the stabbing may have been the result of an altercation, not merely a random act of terror.
“At this stage of the investigation all leads are possible, but it points to being a case of a fight between two parties,” said police spokeswoman Luba Samri.
The stabbing follows a prolonged campaign of Arab violence which has rocked the capital city since July.
The past four weeks have seen a dramatic rise in terror attacks in Jerusalem, including two “car rampages” near Light Rail stations, the attempted assassination of Temple Mount rights activist Yehuda Glick, and last week’s massacre at a synagogue in the Har Nof neighborhood.
